"Congress President Sonia Gandhi has accepted the suggestion to appoint Shantaram Naik as President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee in place of Luizinho Faleiro with immediate effect," a party press release said.

They blamed him and former Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh for losing an opportunity to form the government in the state in March despite the party emerging with the largest number of seats in the assembly.
