Kolkata, June 9 (IANS) A gold dealer was robbed of money and jewellery by imposters masquerading as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Friday, police said.
Four persons, claiming to be CBI officials, called on gold merchant Shankar Prasad Dutta at his residence in Basirhat city.
"They have taken away Rs 2.10 lakh in cash and around 460 grams of gold," Dutta said.
"They took my son with them saying they would hand over the seizure list to him. He was left midway and asked to come to CBI's city office in Salt Lake," he added.
"A case of cheating has taken place and a complaint was lodged in Basirhat police station. We are investigating the matter," a senior district police officer told IANS.
