Seoul, Oct 1 (IANS) Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan was on Saturday conferred an honorary doctorate by Hankuk University of Foreign Affairs (HUFS) here.
In her acceptance speech, Mahajan said she was honoured to receive an honorary doctorate from the prestigious varsity.
Observing that HUFS, based in Seoul, is recognized as the best institution for foreign language education in Korea, she praised the university as a key promoter of international understanding.
Mahajan further said there is a strong commonality between the work done at a university and at the legislature of any democracy as they both are at the service of the people.
