Samsung keen to set up Tizen Academy in Telangana

Samsung keen to set up Tizen Academy in TelanganaHyderabad, July 25 (IANS) Delighted over success of its first Tizen skilling pilot in India, Samsung is keen to work with Telangana to set up a Tizen Academy, a top company official said on Monday.

Deepak Bharadwaj, Vice President (South West Asia) at Samsung, said they would like to continue the efforts to create a steady supply of talent from Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge(TASK) to T-Hub to enhance innovation system.

He was speaking at a ceremony at TASK, where students made a presentation of their apps on completion of skilling pilot.

Samsung and TASK had last year signed an MoU to offer engineering graduates a skill development course based on Tizen operating system platform.

Over 500 youth and 75 faculty from across Telangana had undergone the skilling programme.

Over 90 apps were created and uploaded on the Tizen Store by the students of which 13 apps were shortlisted by Samsung Research Institute, Bengaluru for a final round of presentation. Top three apps were shortlisted and students who created these apps were identified for further mentoring at T-Hub, India's largest tech incubator here.

Telangana's IT Minister K. T. Rama Rao appreciated ideas of the students especially from those who were from districts.

Apps developed were on diverse topics that included religion, beauty and public services.

TASK CEO Sujiv Nair said it was a proud moment for them as these apps were developed by students from Medak, Khammam, Nizamabad and Ranga Reddy districts which is a testimony of the talent potential available in Telangana.
