Rajendra Kumar wants his laptop, ipad, cash back from CBI

New Delhi, April 12 (IANS) A court here has asked the CBI to respond to a plea of Rajendra Kumar, principal secretary of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, for return of his seized cash, laptop and ipad, court sources said on Tuesday.

The items were seized during searches related to a graft case investigation lodged against Kumar.

Special Judge Ajay Kumar Jain asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file reply to Kumar's plea, seeking release of the seized items on the ground that the investigation has been completed and the items would not serve any purpose by keeping them in the custody of the probe agency.

Kumar moved an application before the court last week, seeking return to him of the cash, laptop and ipad.

The court has fixed April 18 as next date of hearing.

The court was on Tuesday hearing a corruption case against Kumar and others.

According to the first information report, Rajendra Kumar promoted a company, Endeavour System Pvt. Ltd. from 2007, by allegedly misusing his official position and facilitated tenders worth Rs.9.5 crore to the said company.

The CBI officials carried out searches at the Delhi Secretariat on December 16, 2015, saying they were investigating corruption charges against Rajendra Kumar.

Kejriwal claimed his office too was raided, and linked it to a probe he had ordered against union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on issues related to alleged corruption in Delhi's cricket association. The CBI, however, denied searching Kejriwal's office.
