New Delhi, Sep 21 (SocialNews.XYZ) Addressing concerns related to notices being sent to 31.63 lakh Delhi electors during the ongoing SIR, the city’s Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar on Monday clarified that receiving notices does not mean their names will be deleted from the final voters’ list.
Any eligible person whose name is not present in the Draft Electoral Roll may file Form 6 along with supporting documents during the claim and objections period till September 30 to get their name included in the final electoral roll, the CEO said in a statement.
The forms can be submitted in both offline mode to ERO/AERO/BLO or in the online mode through https://voters.eci.gov.in and ECINET Mobile App, he said.
He also announced a proposal to hold special camps at all polling station locations in Delhi on September 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to assist voters.
“All stakeholders are hereby informed that the issue of notice does not mean that their names will be deleted from the electoral rolls of NCT of Delhi,” said the CEO.
“No name can be deleted without giving an opportunity of being heard and issuing a proper speaking and appealable order,” the CEO said in a statement.
The CEO clarified in a statement that it is issuing system-generated notices to some categories of voters to correct their data in ECINET.
The CEO said his office is issuing notices only to two categories of voters whose names appear in the Draft Electoral Rolls.
These two categories are those who could not be linked with the electoral roll of the last Intensive revision and those with logical discrepancies in their linking with the electoral roll of the last Intensive revision, the CEO said.
The CEO said upon receipt of notices, these electors may submit reply/requisite documents to the ERO/AERO concerned.
“It is pertinent to mention that the list of documents prescribed by ECI is only indicative, not exhaustive. EROs/AEROs, being statutory authorities, will take the final decision based on the available documents and report of BLO,” said the statement.
“There is sufficient time for the disposal of the notices till October 29 , 2026 as per schedule of SIR 2026 and names of such electors will be included in the Final Electoral Roll to be published on November 4, 2026,” said the CEO.
Apart from the plan to hold special camps for voters on September 27, the CEO announced that special camps for homeless, transgenders and sex workers have also been planned on September 23rd and 24 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at all DUSIB Night Shelter and other pockets of homeless citizens in Delhi.
The ECI has reportedly served notices to nearly 32 lakh voters to prove eligibility for inclusion in voter rolls. Prominent people whose names appear in the draft list but who have been issued notices for discrepancies include Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and ex-Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
Notices have also been issued to Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi, former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and former Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi.
