Eva Victor's Sorry, Baby Promises a Shattering, Sardonic Take on Trauma and Time

A24 has unveiled the trailer for Sorry, Baby, a quietly explosive feature debut from Eva Victor—who not only writes and directs but also stars in the film. Best known for her razor-sharp humor online, Victor now brings that same incisive voice to the screen in a deeply personal, structurally bold film about what happens after the worst thing has already happened.

Sorry, Baby follows Agnes, a graduate student-turned-professor, in the aftermath of a trauma that reshapes her world—but seemingly not the world around her. The trailer hints at both raw vulnerability and biting humor, a tonal balancing act that evokes the emotional dissonance of grief, rage, and the surreal calm of being left behind while life moves forward for others. Anchored by Victor’s own performance, the film explores not just the rupture of trauma, but its long, uneven tail.

Told across five nonlinear years, the film employs a fractured timeline and intimate lens to mirror Agnes’ interior journey. In doing so, it refuses the neat arc of “healing,” instead allowing space for relapse, resignation, absurdity, and resilience. With supporting performances from Naomi Ackie, Lucas Hedges, Kelly McCormack, and John Carroll Lynch, the film is rich with texture—drawing on ensemble strength while never losing sight of Agnes’ perspective.

Slated for a June 27th, 2025 release, Sorry, Baby already looks like a standout in A24’s slate—an emotionally precise, darkly funny meditation on living with what can’t be undone. If the trailer is any indication, Eva Victor’s debut isn’t just a calling card—it’s a full-on arrival.
