Childish exercise: BJP hits back at Rahul Gandhi's debate dare to Prime Minister

New Delhi, Nov 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a counterattack on the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi over his challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a public debate, questioning his political record and also accusing him of making baseless allegations against the government.

Punjab BJP in-charge Satish Poonia said the Congress had been given the opportunity to govern the country for 55 years, and Rahul Gandhi should first introspect on his own party’s record before challenging the Prime Minister.

“The people of this country gave Rahul Gandhi’s Congress party the opportunity to rule for 55 years. There are many issues on which even ordinary citizens question them, and they have no answers. He should first look within his own party and examine what his governments have done. He can talk to the Prime Minister later, but even if he debates an ordinary BJP worker, the Congress party will get its answers,” Poonia said.

Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saraogi also criticised the Congress leader, describing his challenge as a childish political exercise and accusing him of avoiding parliamentary proceedings.

“Rahul Gandhi, who avoids Parliament sessions and makes baseless allegations, is now staging a childish drama of challenging others to debates on social media. The entire country laughs at his hypocrisy. Serious democratic debates at the highest level take place between mature, responsible and committed leaders, not with an immature syndicate that travels abroad every day to undermine India’s democracy,” Saraogi told IANS.

West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh also took a swipe at the Congress leader, saying his continued criticism of the government had failed to translate into constructive political work.

“Rahul Gandhi has been criticising the government for the last 12 years. If he had focused on doing some constructive work, the Congress would not be in this situation today,” Ghosh said.

JDU National Spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan said Union Home Minister Amit Shah had already challenged Gandhi to participate in a debate during a special session of Parliament.

“Yesterday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah challenged Rahul ji to have a special session of Parliament convened and come there for a debate. The question is whether he will debate with any leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Through this, he can understand the perspective of an alliance and the nation,” Ranjan told IANS .

The remarks came in response to Rahul Gandhi’s demand for a public debate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Challenging the Prime Minister, Gandhi had asked him to choose any stage or venue for a discussion on allegations of anti-national activities and alleged connections with foreign forces.

In a post on X, Gandhi wrote: “24 hours have passed, Modi ji. I challenged you. You say that the Opposition is anti-national. Pick any stage, any venue, and debate me. Who is the anti-national? Who has connections with foreign forces? And what kind of connections are they? Do it as soon as possible—don’t be afraid.”
