The United Nations political mission in Somalia closes Saturday, ending three decades of mediation and support for rebuilding institutions after the civil war. The government calls the closure a milestone in its ability to manage its own affairs. Critics warn that the missions departure removes a key channel for resolving political disputes as leaders remain divided over elections and al-Qaida-linked militants continue fighting. U.N. aid agencies and African Union forces will remain in the country, but no direct replacement for the missions political mediation role has been identified. (AP video by Mohamed Sheikh Nor)
