Gwalior, Oct 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) A woman was allegedly murdered by her husband at their home in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior on Karwa Chauth, with police suspecting a domestic dispute as the preliminary motive behind the killing, an official said on Thursday.

The incident took place in Tyagi Nagar under Murar police station limits.

The deceased was identified as Madhu Srivastava, while her husband, Anand Srivastava, is the accused in the case, police said.

Sandeep Bangre, City Superintendent of Police (CSP) of Murar Circle in Gwalior, said that the police received an FIR reporting the alleged murder and immediately sent a team to the spot.

"We received an FIR reporting that Anand Srivastava had killed his wife in Tyagi Nagar. Police team reached the spot, secured the crime scene and questioned family members. A domestic dispute has emerged as the preliminary motive," Bangre added.

The Police examined the crime spot and questioned family members to establish the sequence of events leading to the woman's death.

Investigators are also gathering evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.

"The domestic dispute is being treated as a preliminary motive, and the investigation is continuing to establish what led to the incident," the CSP said.

The alleged killing took place on Karwa Chauth, a Hindu festival during which married women traditionally observe a fast for the long life and well-being of their husbands.

Police are investigating the case to establish the circumstances of the woman's death and determine the events preceding the alleged murder.
