Indore, Oct 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) Madhya Pradesh has received investment proposals worth around Rs 5,800 crore, with the potential to generate more than 10,000 jobs, as the state seeks to develop a semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Friday.
The proposals emerged from investor meetings at the Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Summit 2026 in Indore, where the government outlined plans to attract investments in chip design, semiconductor manufacturing, advanced packaging and other high-technology sectors.
Addressing the two-day summit at the Brilliant Convention Centre, Yadav said the Covid pandemic had highlighted the strategic importance of semiconductors and the need to strengthen domestic capabilities in the sector.
“The shortage of semiconductors during the Covid pandemic showed how important this sector is for the economy and national security,” he said.
The summit brought together more than 1,000 delegates, including representatives from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Sweden, for discussions on investment, technology development and skill creation.
Yadav said the Madhya Pradesh government had introduced more than 25 policies over the past two-and-a-half years to attract investments. Proposals worth around Rs 34 lakh crore had been received through the Global Investors Summit and other initiatives, with more than 30 per cent moving towards implementation.
He said the state's power generation capacity had increased from 5,000 MW to 32,000 MW, and assured investors of faster approvals, single-window clearances and reliable power supply.
“Once someone comes to Madhya Pradesh, they become a part of Madhya Pradesh forever,” Yadav said, inviting companies to invest in the state.
The government announced plans to establish a Semiconductor Centre of Excellence focusing on chip design, VLSI, research, prototyping and skill development.
A separate Centre of Excellence for photonics and quantum technologies was also announced.
Separately, five companies received letters of intent for land allotment for projects involving proposed investments of Rs 9,625 crore and more than 4,450 direct jobs. These include a 50 MW hyperscale data centre in Gwalior, a lithium-cell manufacturing unit in Bhopal and electronics-related facilities in Indore and Bhopal.
Seven companies were also offered office space at the Electronics Complex in Indore, with the proposed facilities expected to generate more than 1,280 jobs.
The state government signed memorandums of understanding with five institutions, including the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India, SEMI India and Semiconductor Laboratory, Mohali, to support skill development, investment promotion and industry collaboration.
