Patna, Oct 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will visit Patna on October 25 to attend a state-level celebration marking the birth anniversary of Shrikrishna Singh, popularly known as Bihar Kesari and the first Chief Minister of Bihar.
The event will be held at Bapu Sabhagar, where Congress leaders will pay tribute to his contributions to the freedom struggle, social justice and the development of modern Bihar.
The announcement was made at a joint press conference by Congress Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh and Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Rajesh Ram.
The leaders said Kharge would attend the programme as the chief guest and keynote speaker.
According to the schedule announced by the party, Kharge is expected to arrive at Patna airport by private jet at 11 am on October 25 and proceed directly to the venue.
His visit is expected to bring together Congress leaders, party workers and supporters for the state-level celebration.
The Congress leaders highlighted the contributions of Shrikrishna Singh, affectionately known as Shri Babu, to Bihar’s political, social and economic transformation.
Akhilesh Singh said his life and public service were dedicated to the upliftment of the underprivileged, exploited and marginalised sections of society.
He recalled Singh’s role in India’s freedom movement and his contribution to shaping Bihar after Independence.
Rajesh Ram particularly highlighted his role in the abolition of the zamindari system, describing it as a significant step towards social and economic reform.
He also recalled his initiative to facilitate the entry of Dalits into the historic Deoghar temple, citing it as an important milestone in the struggle against caste-based discrimination and social exclusion.
The Bihar Congress said the programme would seek to familiarise the younger generation and the wider public with Shri Babu’s ideals, political legacy and vision of social equality.
The party intends to highlight his contribution to institution-building and the development of Bihar.
Rajesh Ram appealed to citizens, intellectuals, social activists and Congress workers from across the state to attend the celebration in large numbers.
He said the event would provide an opportunity to remember Shri Babu’s contributions and reaffirm the values of social justice, equality and inclusive development associated with his legacy.
The October 25 programme is being organised as a major state-level tribute to one of Bihar’s most prominent political figures, with the Congress seeking to bring his historical contributions and ideals into public discussion.
