The Greatest Trailer: Jaalen Best Steps Into Muhammad Ali's Shoes in Prime Video's First Authorized Scripted Series

Prime Video has unveiled the main official trailer for The Greatest, an ambitious biographical series chronicling the extraordinary life of boxing legend Muhammad Ali. Going beyond the punches, championship victories and unforgettable rivalries that made him a global icon, the upcoming mini-series promises an intimate look at the man behind the legend. Starring Jaalen Best as Cassius Clay, who later became Muhammad Ali, the series aims to explore the triumphs, struggles and defining moments that shaped one of the most influential sporting figures of all time.

What makes The Greatest particularly significant is that it is the first authorized scripted series about Muhammad Ali's life. The project promises to explore both sides of his remarkable journey: the fearless champion who dominated the boxing ring and the deeply personal experiences that shaped his identity outside it. From career highs and devastating setbacks to the challenges that came with worldwide fame, the narrative looks beyond the headlines to reveal a more personal portrait of a man whose influence extended far beyond sports.

At the heart of the series is Jaalen Best, who takes on the demanding role of Ali across his journey from Cassius Clay to the celebrated heavyweight champion. Recreating a figure as recognisable as Ali presents a unique challenge, given his distinctive personality, confidence and unmistakable presence. The series seeks to capture not only his athletic achievements but also the character and convictions that made him a cultural force. Rather than portraying him solely as a boxer, The Greatest sets out to examine the experiences and relationships that helped define his life.

The supporting cast includes Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham, Michael Ealy and Giovanni Ribisi. Together, the ensemble brings to the screen the people and relationships surrounding Ali's extraordinary journey. The story will explore his experiences as a husband, father, brother and son, offering a closer look at the private life behind his public persona. By examining these personal dimensions alongside his sporting career, the series aims to present a fuller picture of a man whose life was marked by both extraordinary success and deeply human struggles.

Created by Ben Watkins, The Greatest features writing by Josh Wakely, with episodes directed by Stacey Muhammad, Craig Siebels and Watkins. The series is also executive produced by Lonnie Ali, Muhammad Ali's widow, adding a significant personal connection to the project. Her involvement accompanies the show's aim to tell an authorised account of Ali's life, moving beyond familiar sporting milestones to explore the values, relationships and defining experiences behind his enduring legacy.

With its main trailer now released, The Greatest is gearing up to introduce a new generation of viewers to the life and legacy of Muhammad Ali. His story is one of sporting excellence, personal conviction and an influence that reached far beyond the boxing ring. By combining the spectacle of his career with a more intimate exploration of his life, the series hopes to offer a compelling portrait of a man whose name became synonymous with greatness. The Greatest is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on November 4, 2026.
