Ranabaali Trailer Sees Vijay Deverakonda Lead a Fierce Revolt Against British Rule

The much-awaited trailer of Ranabaali, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, has finally arrived, promising a powerful blend of historical drama, action, romance and rebellion. Released on October 8, 2026, the nearly four-minute trailer introduces audiences to a world shaped by colonial oppression, suffering and the determination of ordinary people to fight for their freedom. Vijay shared the trailer on social media with the caption, “They hid it from the books. We will correct it. On the biggest screens worldwide.” He also praised director Rahul Sankrityan for his cinematic storytelling and announced that audiences would travel back in time this Dasara, October 16, with Ranabaali.

The trailer opens with a striking folk performance that narrates the origins of Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, the protagonist played by Vijay Deverakonda. Set against the rugged hills and culturally rich landscape of Rayalaseema, the opening establishes a sense of mythology and local folklore surrounding the character. As the story unfolds, the film shifts towards a brutal historical conflict, introducing a community whose peaceful existence is threatened by British colonial forces. The presentation combines regional traditions, dramatic visuals and an intense musical backdrop, setting the stage for a story about resistance and the fight for dignity.

At the heart of Ranabaali is the suffering of the village of Singanamala during the devastating Madras famine and the exploitation associated with British colonial rule. The trailer depicts villagers being pushed into forced labour and struggling under an oppressive system that threatens their livelihoods and freedom. As the situation becomes increasingly unbearable, Ranabaali emerges as a determined figure ready to challenge those in power. What begins as a struggle to protect his people gradually transforms into a fierce revolt against the British establishment, giving the historical drama its central emotional and action-driven conflict.

Vijay Deverakonda appears in a rugged avatar, bringing intensity and a distinctly regional flavour to his portrayal of Ranabaali. His physical transformation, forceful dialogue delivery and Rayalaseema slang contribute to the character's grounded personality, while the action sequences hint at a man pushed to his limits by injustice. Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, Ranabaali's wife, whose presence adds an emotional dimension to the story. Their relationship appears to provide a personal counterpoint to the larger political conflict, making the fight for freedom as much about protecting loved ones as challenging colonial authority.

The trailer also introduces Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo as Sir Theodore Hector, the menacing British antagonist who stands against Ranabaali and his people. His character appears to represent the ruthless power structure that the protagonist must confront, setting up a clash between colonial authority and local resistance. Director Rahul Sankrityan, known for his work on Shyam Singha Roy and Taxiwaala, takes charge of the ambitious historical project, while celebrated music composers Ajay-Atul provide the soundtrack. The combination of large-scale action, period settings, regional storytelling and dramatic music gives the film a distinctly cinematic scope.

Scheduled for a theatrical release on October 16, 2026, during the Dasara festive season, Ranabaali is shaping up to be an important release for Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna. Its trailer positions the film as a story of forgotten struggles, colonial exploitation and a man's determination to stand up for his community. Vijay's message about correcting what was left out of history adds another layer of intrigue to the project, while the scale of the visuals suggests an effort to reach audiences across languages. With its central performances, historical backdrop and high-stakes conflict, Ranabaali will look to make a strong impression when it reaches cinemas worldwide.
