Aamir Khan Confirms His New Look Is For An Upcoming Film At Celebrate Cinema Festival 2026

Aamir Khan turned heads at the grand inauguration of Celebrate Cinema Festival 2026 at the Whistling Woods International (WWI) campus in Mumbai. While the superstar was there to celebrate cinema and interact with the next generation of filmmakers, it was his striking new appearance that quickly became one of the biggest talking points of the event. With grey and white hair, a clean-shaven face and a noticeably different hairstyle, Aamir looked almost unrecognisable at first glance.

Naturally, the new look sparked the obvious question: is Aamir Khan preparing for another transformation on the big screen? When asked whether his appearance was connected to his next film, the actor confirmed that it was. “Yes, well, I am working on a film right now,” Aamir said, without revealing further details about the project. The brief confirmation was enough to send fans into speculation mode about what the actor could be preparing for next.

Aamir's decision to keep the details under wraps is hardly surprising. The actor has developed a reputation for completely immersing himself in his characters, often undergoing dramatic physical transformations when a role demands it. His latest grey-haired and clean-shaven appearance has therefore raised plenty of curiosity, particularly because he has not officially revealed the film, his character or the director behind the project.

During his visit to Whistling Woods, however, Aamir was less focused on himself and more interested in the young students around him. Speaking about his connection with the institute, the actor said he genuinely enjoys visiting the campus because of the unique energy of its students. He praised the institution for giving young people an opportunity to learn about cinema and explore careers in the industry.

Aamir also spoke warmly about the experience of interacting with aspiring filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts. He said the enthusiasm of the students energises him whenever he visits, adding that he never hesitates when he receives an invitation to the campus. For someone who has spent decades in front of and behind the camera, the actor's enthusiasm for engaging with the next generation of cinema professionals was particularly fitting for the festival.

The superstar also opened up about a collaboration that never happened during his early years in the industry. When asked why he never worked with filmmaker Subhash Ghai, Aamir revealed that Ghai was actually at the top of his personal list of directors he wanted to work with when he began his acting career. According to Aamir, the opportunity simply never materialised, with factors such as scripts, characters and luck playing a role.

Aamir spoke with admiration about the legendary filmmakers whose work shaped his understanding of cinema. He recalled watching the films of masters such as V. Shantaram, K. Asif, Mehboob Khan and Subhash Ghai, describing them as institutions from whom actors and filmmakers of his generation learned by observing their craft. His comments offered an interesting glimpse into the cinematic influences that helped shape his own approach to acting and filmmaking.

The actor's visit was also marked by an engaging masterclass titled “Impact of Big Screen Cinema.” Moderated by Subhash Ghai, the session brought together several voices from the film industry, including Aparna Purohit, Divy Nidhi Sharma and director R. S. Prasanna, who was part of the Sitaare Zameen Par team. The discussion focused on the scale, emotion and immersive experience that theatrical cinema can offer audiences.

With Aamir Khan confirming that his latest look is connected to a film currently in the works, Celebrate Cinema Festival 2026 ended up giving fans something more than a celebration of movies. The superstar may not have disclosed the title or details of his upcoming project, but his transformation has already done what a great movie tease is supposed to do—it has got everyone guessing.

For now, Aamir's mystery film remains under wraps, but one thing is clear: the actor is once again preparing for a new cinematic journey. And if his completely revamped appearance is anything to go by, audiences could be in for another Aamir Khan performance that demands plenty of attention when the project eventually makes its way to the big screen.
