Jaipur, Oct 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Madan Rathore on Monday hit back at allegations of electoral malpractice and misuse of power, accusing former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and the Congress of undermining the democratic process.
Rathore alleged that it was the Gehlot government that had engaged in “vote theft” and claimed that it had even “swallowed up” the Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) ‘Elephant’ symbol.
He asserted that the BJP respects democracy and democratic institutions, while accusing the Congress of doing otherwise.
Responding to questions from journalists, Rathore described the ongoing internal differences within the opposition as a “Jalebi race”, referring to what he called a chaotic and aimless political scramble.
He said such a race had been continuing for a long time among leaders including Tika Ram Jully, Ashok Gehlot, Govind Singh Dotasra and Sachin Pilot, with each pursuing a separate political agenda.
Rathore dismissed Dotasra’s confidence regarding the Panchayat elections as an attempt to conceal embarrassment.
He said that if Dotasra were to accept the public mandate, “his political shop would shut down immediately”.
Rathore alleged that the Congress currently lacked effective leadership and did not appear to be a united political force.
He also accused Dotasra of making aggressive and baseless statements.
Rathore said allegations of misuse of power were unfounded and questioned how the Congress could have allowed Dotasra to win the Laxmangarh seat by a margin of just one vote in local body elections if the BJP government had actually misused its authority.
Responding to allegations concerning electoral malpractice, Rathore again alleged that it was the Gehlot government that had engaged in “vote theft” and claimed that it had even “swallowed up the BSP’s ‘Elephant’ symbol”.
He accused the opposition of showing disrespect for democracy and asserted that the BJP respects democracy and democratic institutions.
BJP State President Madan Rathore also said that October 7 holds special significance in the public life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He noted that on October 7, 2001, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time.
According to Rathore, October 7, 2026, marks the completion of 25 years of public service by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the head of a government.
In view of the occasion, the Rajasthan BJP will organise the ‘Seva Jyoti evam Sankalp’ (Flame of Service and Pledge) programme at every district headquarters across the state on October 7.
Rathore said BJP workers from every booth would travel to their respective district headquarters and interact with the public.
A programme will also be organised in the Sanganer area of Jaipur with the participation of party workers and members of the general public.
Participants will connect to a live programme in which PM Modi will express his gratitude to the people.
Following the programme, a torch symbolising the spirit of service and social responsibility will be lit.
Rathore said the message of the torch would be to keep the spirit of service alive and active in society.
He added that true public service means helping those in need, ensuring eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of government schemes, guiding people towards the right path and helping them become self-reliant.
On the occasion, participants will also take a pledge to continuously contribute towards helping the needy, serving society and working in the national interest throughout their lives.
Rathore said various service-oriented and public awareness programmes had been organised across Rajasthan under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service Pledge Campaign), which began on September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said the campaign seeks to communicate PM Modi’s long journey of public service, his spirit of service and his resolve to build a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India), while simultaneously strengthening the values of service and patriotism in society.
