Jamnagar, Sep 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jamnagar police destroyed around 1,200 litres of suspected adulterated milk, 75 kg of vegetable ghee and 75 kg of milk-making powder during a raid at a residential premises in Kalavad, police said on Tuesday.
The raid followed after SOG personnel received information that suspected adulterated milk was being prepared at the residence of Kanjibhai alias Kano Depalbhai Malani, a suspected milk trader in Jalasana village of Kalavad taluka.
The premises were located near the Shitala Mataji temple area at Kapuriya's Katha in Kalavad.
According to the police, the action followed directions from Rajkot Division Deputy Inspector General of Police Nirlipt Rai and Jamnagar Superintendent of Police Dr Ravi Mohan Saini to identify traders involved in adulterating everyday-use commodities and take legal action against them.
"SOG staff were conducting patrols in areas under the jurisdiction of Kalavad Town and Rural police stations when personnel Toshifbhai Tayani, Rameshbhai Chavda and Firozbhai Khafi received the information about the suspected milk preparation," officials said.
During the raid, the team found suspected adulterated milk being prepared at the premises.
The material recovered included about 1,200 litres of milk, 75 kg of vegetable ghee, and 75 kg of milk-making powder.
The police subsequently informed the Food Safety Department, following which Food Safety Officer (FSO) officials reached the spot.
The FSO collected the required samples of the suspected milk, sealed the premises and took the samples into custody for further action.
"The Food Safety Officer destroyed the remaining suspected adulterated milk, vegetable ghee and milk-making powder at a location and in a manner intended to prevent harm to human health and the environment," the police said.
The Food Safety Officer has initiated further legal action against the persons involved in the milk trade under the applicable provisions, according to the police.
