Jaipur, Sep 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Police have registered an FIR against Independent Hanumangarh MLA Ganeshraj Bansal over a long-running dispute over three auctioned plots, with the CID-CB set to take over the investigation because the case involves a sitting legislator.
Police registered the FIR under eight sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, after an inquiry into a complaint filed by advocate Harbans Singh Chandi.
According to the police inquiry report, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hanumangarh Circle, ordered registration of the FIR after finding a prima facie case. Because the allegations involve a sitting MLA, the CID-CB will investigate under departmental provisions.
The complaint pertains to plots H-39, H-40 and H-41. According to complainant Harbans Singh Chandi, the three plots were purchased through an auction conducted on November 3, 1995. Plot H-39 was registered in Chandi’s name, while plots H-40 and H-41 were registered in the name of his wife, Saranpal Kaur.
In his complaint, Chandi alleged that Bansal visited the disputed plots in 2024 at night with several associates. He alleged that the group demolished a boundary wall, broke the lock of a room to gain entry into the property, and issued threats.
During the inquiry, police recorded statements from the complainant and witnesses Pawan Kumar and Kanhaiya.
As part of the investigation, police collected records, orders and other relevant documents relating to the three plots from the Municipal Council. The police examined the documents, along with witness statements and the complainant’s version, during the inquiry.
According to the police report, the material gathered during the inquiry indicated a prima facie offence.
The inquiry report states that a prima facie case was made out against Bansal under Sections 308(2), 329(4), 331(6), 324(4), 324(5), 191(2), 191(3) and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Following the inquiry findings, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hanumangarh Circle, directed registration of the case, after which the FIR was formally lodged.
The police report further states that, since the matter concerns a sitting MLA, the probe will be transferred to the CID-CB. The original inquiry report and a copy of the FIR are to be forwarded to the CID-CB headquarters in Jaipur through the Superintendent of Police, Hanumangarh.
Officials said that the allegations mentioned in the FIR have not been established in a court of law and that the CID-CB investigation will determine the factual and evidentiary aspects of the case.
The latest development comes days after Bansal faced CID-CB action in a separate 23-year-old case related to alleged irregularities in land leases issued by the Hanumangarh Municipal Council in 2003.
Bansal was arrested in that case on September 20 and was later granted bail by a district and sessions court on September 26. The new FIR marks another legal challenge for the Independent legislator as the CID-CB prepares to examine the allegations arising from the land dispute.
