Mumbai, Sep 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) Six-time world champion boxer Mary Kom opened up about one of the darkest phases of her life, where she recalled that she had contemplated ending her life but chose to keep going for the sake of her young children.
The Olympic medallist made the emotional revelation during a conversation inside the Bigg Boss 20 house.
Mary was seen speaking about her struggles with fellow contestants Isha Rikhi, Rhiti Tiwari and Kanika Mann. As she opened up about the emotional toll of her journey, the boxer admitted that despite being known for her strength inside the boxing ring, there were moments when she felt completely broken.
Recalling the difficult period, Mary said that she had reached a point where she thought about ending her life.
“I am very strong. But in that year, I lost a bit. I was broken. I had a lot to do,” Mary said. “I wanted to end my life. That’s what I was thinking. But I am still alive for my children. They were small,” she said.
Mary also spoke about how she had spent much of her life fighting through difficult circumstances and making sacrifices for her family, her state and the nation.
“I have been through a lot since I was young. I have sacrificed for my family, for my state and for my nation. Who can fight like this? This is a challenge,” she said.
“I am a different athlete. I want to win more medals. One medal isn’t enough. Two medals aren’t enough. Three medals aren’t enough. I am still hungry but can no longer participate because of overage,” Mary said.
At another emotional point in the conversation, Mary spoke about how difficult it had become for her to express her emotions. She said she had cried a lot in the past and now felt the need to hold her tears back.
“I have cried a lot. Now, slowly, I have to pull the tears inside.,” she said.
Talking about Mary Kom, she is one of India's most accomplished boxers. Hailing from Manipur, she rose through the ranks to become a six-time world champion and has also represented India at multiple international competitions.
Mary and her former husband Onler Kom are parents to four children.
