Sharvari on Becoming a Rajshri Heroine: ‘Sooraj Sir’s Female Characters Are Fierce and Courageous’

Sharvari Wagh is stepping into a very special chapter of her career with Yeh Prem Mol Liya, and the actress admits that becoming a Rajshri heroine comes with a feeling that is difficult to put into words. Along with Ayushmann Khurrana, filmmaker Sooraj R. Barjatya and composer Himesh Reshammiya, Sharvari attended the title track launch of the upcoming musical family drama, where she spoke warmly about her experience of working with the veteran filmmaker and what the Rajshri family means to her.

When asked about becoming a Rajshri heroine, Sharvari began by expressing her gratitude to Barjatya, saying, “Being a Rajshri heroine... First of all, thank you so much, Sooraj Sir, for giving me this privilege.” She then spoke about what makes the filmmaker's approach to relationships so distinctive, particularly the way his stories look beyond just the central romantic pair.

Sharvari said, “I’d like to say one thing: regarding the Rajshri heroine and the Rajshri family—I think the way Sooraj Sir views relationships is unique. They aren't just about two people; there is an entire world around them—a world comprising their family, other people, and their emotions.” According to the actress, it is this larger emotional universe that makes the relationships in Barjatya's films feel grounded and believable.

She further explained, “And I believe all these elements make the relationships feel very real and honest. That, I think, is Sir's greatest strength—along with the way he writes his female characters.” Sharvari's words highlight how much she values Barjatya's treatment of women in his stories, particularly at a time when the female characters in family dramas can sometimes be reduced to their relationship with the male protagonist.

Talking specifically about Barjatya's heroines, Sharvari said, “Everyone knows he portrays them with such grace and dignity; yet, they are so fierce and courageous.” For the actress, getting the opportunity to play a Rajshri heroine is therefore not simply about being part of a famous banner or a traditional family entertainer. It is also about stepping into a world where female characters are given emotional depth, dignity and strength.

Sharvari once again expressed her gratitude to Barjatya, saying, “And again, I just want to say thank you—that’s the first thing that comes to mind. Thank you, Sir, for giving me this opportunity.” But the actress also shared a surprisingly personal detail about her experience on the film — something that made Yeh Prem Mol Liya particularly meaningful for her and her family.

Talking about the Rajshri environment, Sharvari revealed, “And regarding the Rajshri family—this was the first time I actually invited my parents to a film set. They are here today.” She admitted that she had previously been apprehensive about bringing her parents to a film set and had never invited them to one before.

Sharvari continued, “Before this, I used to be apprehensive; I had never invited them to a set. But they came to the set of this film for the first time because I wanted my family to meet this family, and... well, it was truly very special for me.” Her comment offered a glimpse into the personal significance of working on a Sooraj Barjatya film, where the idea of family appears to have extended beyond the screen and into her own experience during production.

Yeh Prem Mol Liya is an upcoming Hindi-language musical family drama directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya and produced by Rajshri Productions in association with Mahaveer Jain Films. The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on November 27, 2026, and brings together a fresh lead pair in Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari.

The film also marks the return of Rajshri's much-loved ‘Prem’ character to the big screen after a gap of 12 years. Ayushmann takes on the role of Prem, also known as Sonu, while Sharvari plays Poonam. Their pairing marks their first collaboration, adding another layer of curiosity around a film that combines a new-generation lead pair with Barjatya's familiar family-oriented storytelling.

The ensemble cast further includes accomplished performers such as Anupam Kher, Seema Pahwa, Swanand Kirkire and Geeta Agrawal Sharma. With Himesh Reshammiya handling the music, the film is also building its identity around songs, romance and the emotional bonds that have long been central to Rajshri's cinema.

For Sharvari, however, Yeh Prem Mol Liya appears to represent something more than another film in her growing career. From working with Sooraj Barjatya and stepping into the world of a Rajshri heroine to bringing her parents to a film set for the first time, the project has clearly given her several memories to cherish.
