Mumbai Police book car driver, owner after speeding vehicle hits woman, constable and others in Khar

Mumbai, Sep 21 (SocialNews.XYZ) Mumbai’s Khar police have registered a case against a car driver and the vehicle owner after a speeding car allegedly hit a 19-year-old woman, a police constable and several other people near Khar Station Road.

Police have identified the accused as driver Dinesh Yadav (36), a resident of Goregaon, and businessman Mehul Pravinchandra Joshi (50), a resident of Malad West and the vehicle owner.

According to the police, the incident occurred when the car first struck a 19-year-old woman who was standing on the roadside. The impact caused her to fall, following which a police constable attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the car allegedly hit the constable as well as two to three other people in the vicinity.

The speeding vehicle also collided with two to three parked autorickshaws before coming to a halt after hitting one of them. Police said a person sitting in the rear of the vehicle subsequently got out of the car.

With the help of residents, the injured woman was taken to the nearby Bhabha Hospital for medical treatment. The incident left three people injured, while several vehicles were also damaged.

Police registered a case against Yadav and Joshi under Sections 125(B), 132, 281, 324(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Police arrested Yadav and produced him before a court, which remanded him to police custody. Meanwhile, police served Joshi a notice directing him to appear for questioning.

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, including the role of the vehicle owner and the events leading up to the collision. The condition of the injured individuals is also being closely monitored.
