Russia expands entry ban list in response to EU’s 21st package of sanctions

Moscow, Sep 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) Russia has substantially expanded its entry ban list for European Union (EU) representatives in response to the EU's 21st package of anti-Russian sanctions adopted on July 23, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday.

"In response to the EU's unlawful decisions, the Russian side has significantly expanded the list of representatives of European institutions, EU member states and a number of European states supporting Brussels' anti-Russian policy, who are banned from entering our country," the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said that the list includes individuals involved in making decisions on providing military aid to Ukraine, conducting activities aimed at undermining Russia's territorial integrity, the imposition of anti-Russian sanctions, causing damage to Russia's relations with third countries, and obstructing Russian maritime navigation, Xinhua News Agency reported.

"Restrictive measures have also been imposed against 'civil activists' and representatives of academic communities in European states who hold hostile positions toward Russia, as well as members of national parliaments of EU member states and the European Parliament who voted for anti-Russian resolutions and draft laws," the statement added.

Meanwhile, Russia has also demanded that Japan remove the US Typhon systems from its territory, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday.

"On September 3, a note of protest was sent to the Japanese side in Moscow and Tokyo in connection with the deployment of U.S. ground-based Typhon systems, designed for launching intermediate- and shorter-range missiles, on the island of Kyushu," said Zakharova in a statement.

She further said that the deployment of Typhon launchers on Japanese territory was unacceptable under any pretext and demanded their removal.

Zakharova also emphasized that Japan must fully recognize the results of World War II, including the territorial aspects concerning the southern Kuril Islands, and abandon its remilitarization course.

On September 1st, Zakharova told a briefing on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok that the Japanese Embassy had been clearly informed that the deployment of this type of weaponry on Japanese territory, even under the pretext of military exercises, "is absolutely unacceptable, as it poses a threat to Russia's security."
