BJP chief Nabin slams Rahul Gandhi on 1st Madhya Pradesh visit

Indore, Sep 17 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Nabin on Thursday launched a sharp political attack on the Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi during his maiden visit to Madhya Pradesh after taking charge of the party, accusing the Opposition of putting political interests ahead of the country.

Addressing a gathering in Indore after launching the statewide registration process under the Swamitva Yojana, Nabin contrasted the BJP's approach to welfare with what he described as the Congress' "vote-bank politics", while highlighting PM Modi-led Union government's welfare initiatives.

"In the past, when schemes were formulated, the focus was on which specific community or group to target. The poor were invisible through that lens -- only the vote bank was visible," the BJP President said.

He made this remark while addressing a programme as part of the party's month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 76th birthday.

He said the BJP-led Union government had changed this approach by making poor families the focus of welfare schemes and ensuring that benefits were transferred directly to beneficiaries.

"Today, the PM Modi-led Union government gives top priority to poor families in every scheme and ensures that the assistance reaches them directly," he added.

Nabin also targeted the Congress over its response to India's international engagements, referring to the recent BRICS summit without naming any particular Opposition leader.

"Recently, the BRICS summit took place and the world witnessed India's strength, but our Opposition was busy finding faults even as the rest of the world acknowledged our stature," he said.

"For the Congress, the party may come first and the nation later, which is why they engage in such actions. But for the BJP, the nation comes first," Nabin added.

He also defended the BJP's birthday celebrations for PM Modi, including the lighting of diyas, saying the exercise was linked to beneficiaries of the Centre's welfare programmes.

He cited housing, Ujjwala and other schemes while saying the BJP's celebrations were being presented as an expression of public participation in the government's welfare and service initiatives.

On this occasion, Nabin launched the new registration process under the Swamitva Yojana along with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

The Madhya Pradesh government plans to provide free registration for around 50 lakh rural properties, bearing the stamp and registration charges.

Rights records have been prepared for inhabited land across 41,568 villages, according to the state government.

The first registration document was handed over to beneficiaries during the Indore programme.

The initiative is aimed at giving rural property holders legal ownership documents and facilitating their use of property as an economic asset.

Chief Minister Yadav said the free-registration exercise would continue as part of the state's 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' from September 17 to October 17.

Nabin arrived in Indore after a roadshow and was welcomed by Madhya Pradesh BJP leaders and workers.
