Sharing the stylised poster video, Sidharth wrote, “Jaag Rahi Hai Vo Shakti, Jiska Tha Sabko Sadiyo Se Intezar.” The cryptic message, accompanied by imagery suggesting an ancient divine force and a trident, has added another layer of mystery around the film’s supernatural world.
The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest blends Indian folklore, mythology, supernatural horror and action, drawing inspiration from traditional stories surrounding the mysterious Van Devi, or Goddess of the Forest. The film appears to take familiar elements of Indian folklore and place them inside an atmospheric thriller where the forest itself becomes a character in the story.
Sidharth Malhotra leads the film opposite Tamannaah Bhatia. The story follows a rational, city-bred man who returns to his ancestral village, only to find himself confronting beliefs and warnings that he initially refuses to take seriously. Things take a dangerous turn when he enters a forbidden forest where locals believe nobody should venture after sunset.
His decision sets off a supernatural chain of events, awakening an ancient and powerful force. What begins as a clash between rationality and superstition soon turns into a battle that goes far beyond anything the protagonist could have imagined. He is ultimately pushed into the role of an unlikely protector, with the fate of his people hanging in the balance.
The film brings together an interesting ensemble, with Sunil Grover, Maniesh Paul, Shweta Tiwari and Anup Soni joining Sidharth and Tamannaah. The project also marks an interesting collaboration between mainstream Bollywood talent and the creative world associated with The Viral Fever, known for popularising character-driven Indian storytelling through digital entertainment.
The Vvaan is directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, best known for his work on the acclaimed series Panchayat, along with Arunabh Kumar, who has also written the film. The project is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar and Niraj Kothari, with Vimal Doshi serving as co-producer.
The film’s music is being handled by an impressive lineup comprising Vishal Mishra, Amit Trivedi, Tanishk Bagchi and Sam C S. With a forest setting, mythological undertones and a supernatural conflict at its core, the music and sound design could play an important role in building the film’s eerie atmosphere.
Now, with the trailer arriving on September 16, audiences are only a day away from getting a much closer look at the world of The Vvaan. Sidharth’s reference to a long-awaited “Shakti” and the mysterious trident imagery have already sparked curiosity about the force hiding within the forest.
