Civic poll verdict is seal of approval for BJP's work under PM Modi: Rajasthan CM

New Delhi, Sep 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) Following the BJP's victory in the Rajasthan Urban Local Body elections, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday said the results reflected the people's approval of the work carried out in the state over the past two-and-a-half years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to reporters, Sharma said, "Certainly, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the work accomplished in Rajasthan over the past two-and-a-half years has received the seal of approval from the people of Rajasthan."

He said the Centre's contributions to the state through various initiatives had helped deliver the results.

"Beyond the water projects, through initiatives like 'Rising Rajasthan', whether concerning the Jaipur Metro or tourism development, the continuous contributions bestowed upon Rajasthan by Prime Minister Narendra Modi have delivered these results," he said.

Sharma also claimed that his government had already fulfilled 78 per cent of the promises made in its election manifesto within two-and-a-half years.

"I want to thank the youth and the people of Rajasthan for this win. They have worked to promote the vision of Prime Minister Modi. I want to thank everyone through your medium," he said.

Meanwhile, the ruling BJP emerged ahead of the Congress in Rajasthan's Urban Local Body elections on Monday, winning 4,179 wards against the Opposition party's 3,613 wards. The BJP also secured clear majorities in four of the state's 10 municipal corporations.

The Congress secured a majority in the Bikaner Municipal Corporation and registered a major victory in the Jhalawar Municipal Council, considered a stronghold of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Independents also emerged as a significant force, winning 2,273 wards. They dominated the verdict in the Bharatpur Municipal Corporation.

Bharatpur gave one of the most striking verdicts of the elections as Independents won 36 of the 65 wards, while BJP managed 20 and Congress seven. BSP and RLP won one ward each.

The result assumed political significance as Bharatpur is the hometown of Chief Minister Sharma. As the numbers streamed in, Sharma termed the victory to people's faith in the BJP, and central leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
