Registrations open for Swachhathon 2026 second edition in Vijayawada; Rs 10 lakh prize money announced

 

Vijayawada, Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Registrations are now live for Swachhathon 2026, the second edition of the "Run for Swachha Andhra" event powered by Amaravati Runners, scheduled for October 2 at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here.

The event will feature three categories — a half marathon flagging off at 5:30 AM, a 10K at 6:30 AM and a 5K at 7:00 AM. Registration fees are Rs 1,000 for the half marathon, Rs 800 for the 10K and Rs 500 for the 5K, with early bird prices of Rs 700, Rs 500 and Rs 300 respectively for those who register before September 20. A total prize money of Rs 10 lakh is on offer, along with recognition and cash awards.

Participants will receive a T-shirt, medal, timing bib, e-certificate and breakfast, with DJ and Zumba sessions adding to the carnival atmosphere. Registrations are open on amaravatirunners.com and ifinish.in.

Ahead of the announcement, the organising team — Ramesh Ravi, Basaveswara Rao Thotakura, Ramesh Babu Malempati, Gouri Srinivas Garapati, Ramesh Ravi, Satyanarayana V Garapati and Kishore Kavuri — along with Swachha Andhra Corporation chairman Sri Pattabhi Ram Kommareddy, met Minister for Human Resources Development, IT, Electronics and Communications Nara Lokesh and Minister for Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Nadendla Manohar, and unveiled the event poster.

As chairman of the Swachha Andhra Corporation, Pattabhi Ram Kommareddy is spearheading the state's cleanliness mission under the "Garbage Free – Waste Free Andhra Pradesh" vision. He has been driving citizen-led initiatives and public participation programmes to take the Swachh Bharat message to every household, and extended his support to the Swachhathon as a flagship people's movement for a cleaner Andhra Pradesh.

The organisers invited citizens to join in large numbers to make the second edition bigger and greener. "Run Miles... Spread Smiles," they said.
