Download logoThe Kenya Army continues to strengthen personnel welfare by promoting access to affordable home ownership as part of broader efforts to enhance the financial security, stability and well-being of Service Members and their families.
Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Ketter, led a sensitisation programme on the KDF Mortgage Scheme at Kahawa Garrison, where personnel were briefed on eligibility requirements, financing options, application procedures and repayment terms.
The programme follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Kenya Defence Forces, the Civil Servants Housing Scheme Fund, the Affordable Housing Board and KCB Bank, establishing a framework to facilitate access to affordable mortgage financing for eligible KDF personnel.
Lieutenant General Ketter encouraged personnel to take advantage of the scheme and incorporate home ownership into their long-term financial planning. He noted that access to secure and affordable housing contributes significantly to family stability, personnel morale and overall well-being.
Representatives from the partner institutions also engaged personnel, responding to questions and providing practical guidance on the application process and access to the mortgage facility.
The sensitisation programme forms part of sustained efforts to empower personnel with the knowledge and opportunities necessary to make informed financial decisions and secure their future beyond active service.
By expanding access to affordable home ownership and strengthening financial preparedness, the KDF continues to place personnel welfare at the heart of force development, recognising that a financially secure and supported Service Member contributes to a motivated, resilient and mission-ready force.
