Chhattisgarh cabinet raises job age limit to 45; approves major start-up, skill missions

Raipur, Sep 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, in a meeting on Wednesday, approved a series of significant decisions aimed at expanding career opportunities for government employees, boosting youth entrepreneurship, promoting exports and strengthening skill training infrastructure in the state.

In a key relief measure, the Cabinet, in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, approved a proposal to raise the maximum age limit for applying to other government services and higher positions from 38 years to 45 years. The revised limit will apply to permanent and temporary government servants, employees of corporations, boards and autonomous institutions, contract workers and municipal soldiers working under the state government.

Officials said the decision would provide greater and more equal opportunities for career advancement. The state government will issue integrated permanent guidelines in this regard.

To create new employment, skill development, entrepreneurship and innovation opportunities for the state’s youth, the Cabinet approved the “Chief Minister’s Startup and NIPUN Mission.” A provision of Rs 500 crore has been allocated for the mission over the next five years.

Under the initiative, entrepreneurship development centres, 100 emerging technology labs and five industry excellence centres will be established across all 33 districts. Skill development and formal employment will be promoted according to industry needs through the NIPUN Job Engine. The mission aims to transform youth from job-seekers into job-creators and position Chhattisgarh as a major hub for startups, innovation and technology-based industries.

The Council of Ministers also cleared the “Chhattisgarh Export Promotion Policy 2026-30” with the objective of developing the state as a significant export hub in the country. The policy seeks to build a strong export ecosystem and logistics infrastructure, improve market access and trade facilities for exporters, and promote the export of value-added products from the agricultural and industrial sectors.

It will enhance direct access to international markets through e-commerce, trade fairs and exhibitions, while strengthening the state’s linkages with national and global markets.

In another important decision, the Cabinet approved the allocation of 10 acres of land free of cost in village Tenduwa, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, to the Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, for establishing a National Skill Training Institute (NSTI).

The institute, estimated to cost around Rs 200 crore, will have modern academic, administrative and hostel facilities. It is expected to train 1,000 trainees annually in long-term courses and 3,000 trainees in short-term programmes, offering technical and vocational training aligned with current industry requirements. The establishment of the NSTI is expected to create new opportunities for advanced skill training, internships and employment, and help develop Naya Raipur as a major centre for skills and technical education.

Also, the cabinet approved a land exchange proposal for the construction of a new building for the Durg District Court. Four hectares of land near BIT College in village Titurdih will be made available for the court complex. In exchange, five hectares of government land in village Pahanda, Tehsil Patan, will be given to Bhilai Steel Plant. The current value of both plots is approximately the same.

The decision is expected to facilitate the construction of a modern and well-organised court complex and strengthen judicial infrastructure in the district.
