Srinagar, Sep 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Lt Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, has been given additional charge of Jammu and Kashmir during the absence of the incumbent Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.
Ladakh Lt Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena was on Tuesday given additional charge of Jammu and Kashmir during the “absence, on leave” of incumbent Manoj Sinha.
Sinha, who took charge as the L-G of Jammu and Kashmir on August 7, 2020, is currently in the US on an official visit, official sources said.
“The President of India is pleased to appoint Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, Lt. Governor of Ladakh to discharge the functions of the Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, in addition to his own duties, during the absence, on leave, of Shri Manoj Sinha, Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir,” a communique issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is currently on an official visit to the United States.
Manoj Sinha travelled to Chicago, Illinois, for an official visit. He delivered an address at the IIT (BHU) Global Alumni Meet.
During his speech, he called India an unstoppable and rising nation. He discussed the role of Artificial Intelligence in modern development. He also spoke about how the removal of Article 370 brought positive change and growth to Jammu and Kashmir.
Born on July 1, 1959, in Mohanpura, Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh, Manoj Sinha passed Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and a Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-BHU), Varanasi.
He began his active public life in 1982 by serving as the president of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Students' Union.
He was elected to the Lok Sabha for three terms (1996, 1999, and 2014), representing the Ghazipur constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
He served in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government as the Minister of State for Railways (2014–2019) and later as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Communications (2016–2019).
