Vadodara, Sep 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public reception in Vadodara, describing the gathering as evidence of the “profound trust and commitment” between the Prime Minister and the people.
In a post on social media platform X, Shah said: “The bond of profound trust and commitment Modi Ji shares with people has grown from strength to strength with the passage of time.”
HM Shah’s remarks came as PM Modi visited Vadodara to inaugurate, dedicate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth more than Rs 35,000 crore.
The programme at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda drew a large gathering, with PM Modi receiving an enthusiastic welcome from those attending the ‘NaMo 4 Viksit Bharat’ event.
The Prime Minister’s visit centred on a major expansion of Gujarat’s transport and urban infrastructure.
The most significant component was the dedication of three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), covering 326 route kilometres and developed at a cost of more than Rs 20,700 crore.
The sections — Sanand (North)-Makarpura, New Umbergaon-New Saphale and New Saphale-Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) — complete the Dedicated Freight Corridor network across its full length.
The completed freight network is intended to provide faster movement of export-import cargo, strengthen links between industrial centres and ports, reduce logistics costs and ease congestion on Mumbai’s railway network.
PM Modi also flagged off freight train services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon and New JNPT.
A new passenger train between Vadodara and Tanda Road was also flagged off, while the Jobat-Tanda Road railway line, developed as part of the Chhota Udepur-Dhar project, was dedicated to the nation.
The line is aimed at connecting remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur with the national rail network. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stones for three railway projects spanning 329 km and costing more than Rs 9,700 crore.
These include the third and fourth lines between Vadodara and Ratlam, gauge conversion of the Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar section and doubling of the Vishwamitri-Dabhoi section.
Three National Highway projects worth around Rs 1,780 crore were also included, along with Gujarat government projects worth around Rs 2,600 crore.
In his address, PM Modi linked the infrastructure programme to his broader vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’, while praising residents for a cleanliness campaign undertaken ahead of his visit.
He also spoke about manufacturing, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, skills and employment, and urged young Indians to prepare for emerging sectors.
The public response to the Vadodara programme had also drawn attention before the Prime Minister’s arrival.
Free registration for public participation was opened through BookMyShow by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation, with all available seats reportedly booked within an hour and more than 42,000 additional applicants placed on a waiting list.
The event used digital M-Tickets and live QR-code verification for entry.
After Vadodara, PM Modi travelled to Navsari and Mumbai to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026, making the day-long Gujarat-Maharashtra visit a combination of major infrastructure announcements in Vadodara and a focus on emerging financial technologies in Mumbai.
