Download logoToday in El-Alamein, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated with President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in the periodic summit meeting of the Trilateral Cooperation Mechanism between the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hellenic Republic, and the Republic of Cyprus.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that, at the outset of the summit, President El-Sisi welcomed Egypt’s two distinguished guests, highlighting the historic ties of friendship and cooperation, as well as the close bonds between the peoples of the three countries.
The President emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to advance constructive cooperation within the framework of the trilateral mechanism, which has become a model of regional cooperation aimed at achieving stability and development in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
The Cypriot President and the Greek Prime Minister praised the launch of the El-Alamein International Air Show 2026 “EIAS 2026”. They affirmed their keenness to strengthen trilateral cooperation, noting that the mechanism has become a leading platform for consolidating peace and supporting regional security to serve the interests of the three countries and their peoples.
The summit discussed ways to boost cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, as well as the energy, tourism, education, and cultural sectors. The discussions also tackled cooperation on migration, employment, and the movement of skilled Egyptian workers to the two countries. They also stressed the centrality of security cooperation to face common challenges such as irregular migration and organized crime.
The summit also reviewed developments concerning regional and international issues.
President El-Sisi underscored Egypt’s efforts to restore peace and stability and prevent escalation in the Middle East, particularly in light of the repercussions of regional tensions on global trade and energy security.
In this context, the Cypriot and Greek sides expressed their appreciation for Egypt’s active role. The three leaders also agreed to continue political consultation and coordination in support of regional stability.
The discussions also touched on the Palestinian cause. President El-Sisi reiterated the necessity of adhering to the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. The President also highlighted Egypt’s unwavering position that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only path toward achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
The summit also addressed the issue of the Nile waters as an existential matter for Egypt. President El-Sisi stressed the central importance of this issue to Egypt as a matter of national security, appreciating the supportive positions of Greece and Cyprus in this regard. The leaders agreed on the importance of full adherence to the principles of international law governing transboundary international rivers, particularly the Nile River, including the principles of no harm, prior notification, and rejecting unilateral measures.
The three leaders further reaffirmed the positive leap currently witnessed in relations between Egypt and the European Union across various fields, particularly in light of the implementation of the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership Agreement signed between Egypt and the European Union in 2024.
At the conclusion of the talks, President El-Sisi held a joint press conference with the Cypriot President and the Greek Prime Minister. During the press conference, the President delivered a speech.
