Jaipur, Sep 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) The monsoon has become active again in Rajasthan, with rain reported across several districts, including Jaipur, Ajmer, Dausa, Alwar, Bharatpur and Sawai Madhopur.
Heavy rainfall has caused waterlogging in several areas, while the rise in water levels at reservoirs has prompted the opening of two gates of Bandh Baretha Dam in Bharatpur.
In Ajmer, a wall of Arya Putri School near Plaza Cinema collapsed around 6 a.m. on Saturday following rainfall. Also a few cars parked near the wall were damaged after being buried under the debris. No casualties have been reported so far.
Heavy rain has also affected normal life in parts of Alwar and Dausa, where roads and low-lying areas have been inundated. Jaipur has been receiving intermittent rain since Friday evening, resulting in a noticeable drop in temperatures.
The Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for heavy rain in three districts for Saturday, while a Yellow Alert has been issued for 24 districts.
Schools in Jhalawar and Karauli were closed on Saturday in view of the heavy-rain warning. The water level of Bandh Baretha Dam, one of Bharatpur's major reservoirs, has increased following continuous rainfall in its catchment area.
Two gates of the dam in Bayana were opened on Saturday morning to regulate the rising water level. The catchment area has reportedly been receiving rain for the past two days. The renewed rainfall has brought relief from the recent heat in Jaipur. Rain has continued intermittently across the capital and surrounding areas since Friday evening. Up to one inch of rain has been recorded at some locations in rural Jaipur.
Weather experts said a low-pressure system originating in the Bay of Bengal is currently influencing weather conditions along the eastern side of Rajasthan.
The monsoon trough is extending from Sri Ganganagar and Narnaul through the low-pressure area over northern Madhya Pradesh and southern Uttar Pradesh towards the Bay of Bengal. Due to these systems, the monsoon is expected to remain active over eastern Rajasthan on September 5 and 6, with the possibility of continued rainfall in several districts.
