Guwahati, Sep 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday made a fresh pitch to industries and investors, urging businesses to invest in the state and make Assam their “home”.
In a post on X, Sarma highlighted the state government's efforts to build investor-friendly ecosystem, emphasising policy support, infrastructure and availability of land for setting up industrial projects.
“Calling all industries - come invest in Assam and make it your home,” the Chief Minister said.
He said the state government was working to create right environment to help businesses establish operations faster and expand their presence.
“From investor-friendly policies to ready infrastructure and land availability, we are creating the right ecosystem to help businesses set up faster and grow bigger,” Sarma said.
Making a clear for prospective investors, he stated, “Assam is ready for business.”
Sarma's statement comes as Assam seeks to position itself as an emerging investment destination in the Northeast, leveraging its strategic location and connectivity with other northeastern states as well as neighbouring countries. The state government has in recent years focused on attracting private investment across sectors and improving the infrastructure required to support industrial growth.
Assam's location gives businesses access to the wider Northeast market and provides a potential gateway to markets in Southeast Asia. The government has also been seeking to project the state as a destination for industries looking to expand beyond traditional industrial centres.
The Chief Minister's latest appeal is aimed at reinforcing that investment push by underlining three key requirements for businesses -- supportive policies, infrastructure and access to land. By stressing faster project establishment and expansion, Sarma also sought to highlight the government's focus on reducing barriers for investors and facilitating business growth.
The Assam government has increasingly placed industrialisation and private investment at the centre of its economic development strategy, with the aim of generating employment, strengthening infrastructure and expanding the state's economic base.
The Chief Minister's message signals that the state intends to continue its aggressive outreach to investors and attract industries looking for new opportunities in the North-East.
