Patna, Sep 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Patna Cyber Police have busted an alleged organised cybercrime gang involved in “digital arrests”, financial scams and online fraud, arresting three people in connection with the case.
According to police, the accused allegedly targeted people across several states and carried out cyber fraud involving crores of rupees.
During the investigation, multiple complaints linked to the accused were found on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Gaurav Kumar, a resident of New Colony in Khagaul-Danapur; Adarsh Kumar of Transport Nagar; and Aman Raj of Kumhrar.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the three were allegedly part of an organised cybercrime network that used various deceptive methods to carry out “digital arrests” and financial fraud.
Police said the gang’s activities extended across different parts of the country.
Based on technical analysis and other evidence, the Cyber Police identified the accused and subsequently arrested them. The accused were active in Patna for the last six months.
Sources said that they were continuously shifting their locations to avoid being traced.
Police recovered several items allegedly used in the cybercrimes, including a car carrying a political party flag, six mobile phones, two laptops, three chequebooks, two passbooks and five ATM cards.
According to police, technical analysis of the suspected cyber fraud generated several leads, which helped investigators trace the accused.
The recovered mobile phones, laptops, bank documents and other materials are now being examined to identify additional members of the alleged gang and trace financial transactions linked to the fraud.
An FIR has been registered at the Patna Cyber Police Station under various sections of the IT Act and Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The three accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
Police said further investigation is underway, and more details about other individuals allegedly associated with the gang and the financial transactions involved are likely to emerge.
