Shimla, Aug 31 (SocialNews.XYZ) Himachal Pradesh Speaker Kuldeep Pathania on Monday sought responses from the concerned departments to ensure a speedy resolution of public grievances raised during the Zero Hour of the Assembly.
Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) drew the House’s attention to the dilapidated state of the electricity system, discrepancies in revenue records and the deteriorating law and order situation. Acknowledging the gravity of these issues, Speaker Pathania sought immediate replies.
Bilaspur lawmaker Trilok Jamwal raised the issue of low voltage and unscheduled power cuts in his constituency. He said erratic power supply was stalling drinking water schemes, disrupting distribution, and adversely affecting children’s studies and online coaching, with outages lasting all day in many areas. Jamwal urged the government to ensure timely completion of tenders for projects, including those funded by the World Bank.
Barsar MLA Indradutt Lakhanpal highlighted difficulties faced by the Scheduled Caste ‘Phaleda’ community.
He explained that while names were correctly recorded in old revenue records, a spelling discrepancy in computerised records had entered them as ‘Papeda’. This technical glitch was causing immense problems in obtaining new Scheduled Caste certificates and validating existing ones. He demanded immediate rectification of computer records to align them with old revenue records.
Balh MLA Inder Singh Gandhi expressed concern over the crumbling law and order situation and rising cases of ‘Chitta’ (a synthetic drug) abuse in the upper Balh region. He demanded the immediate opening of a police station to curb crime.
Gandhi recalled that the previous Jai Ram government had sanctioned a police station for the region, a decision revoked by the current government. He said given the deteriorating situation, it was essential to open a police station in the area.
