Maha: Rohit Pawar alleges cover‑up in Ajit Pawar crash probe

Pune, Aug 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) Marking the seven‑month anniversary of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s tragic death in a plane crash, Nationalist Congress Party (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Friday launched a scathing attack on the state government, alleging a deliberate cover‑up and promising to expose those responsible with evidence next week.

Ajit Pawar died on January 28, 2026, when a VSR Aviation aircraft crashed and burst into flames near the Baramati airport runway during landing. Seven months later, Rohit Pawar criticised the stagnant progress of the probe and questioned the administration’s reluctance to pursue a rigorous investigation.

Taking to social media, the Karjat‑Jamkhed MLA highlighted procedural and legal delays surrounding the case.

“It has been seven months since Ajitdada passed away, yet the State CID investigation has made no progress, nor has the case been handed over to the CBI. A basic FIR has not been registered, and even the FIR filed in Karnataka has not been transferred by the Maharashtra government,” he stated.

“Who is making such frantic efforts to protect VSR Aviation, and why? I will expose everything with proof in a press conference on September 4,” he added.

This is not the first time Rohit Pawar has raised concerns over VSR Aviation’s operations and links with state disbursements. He previously flagged a sudden spike in funds allocated to the private aviation firm during the first quarter of the year.

“A total of Rs 145 crore was reportedly disbursed to VSR Aviation within a three‑month window between January and March. Disclosures show Rs 15.72 crore cleared the day before the crash, Rs 9.81 crore on the day of the incident, and another Rs 16.86 crore the following day,” he claimed.

While monthly billing for such services typically averaged Rs 10 crore, Rohit Pawar questioned the sudden surge in multi‑crore allocations during this period.

With suspicions of foul play repeatedly raised and demands for a high‑level inquiry by either the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or a State CID team, political observers across Maharashtra are closely monitoring his scheduled September 4 media brief for the promised disclosures.
