The Further Mis Adventures Of Cliff Booth Teaser Brings Brad Pitt Back With David Fincher And Quentin Tarantino

Netflix has dropped the first promo for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, and Hollywood fans have plenty of reasons to pay attention. Brad Pitt is returning as the effortlessly cool stuntman Cliff Booth from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but this time the character is entering a very different creative world. The upcoming film is written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher, making the project one of the most intriguing filmmaker collaborations on the horizon.

Netflix announced the project with a suitably stylish caption: “THE FURTHER MIS-ADVENTURES OF CLIFF BOOTH. Starring Brad Pitt. Written by Quentin Tarantino. Directed by David Fincher. See it first only in IMAX November 25.” Even with just an 11-second glimpse, the promo manages to bring back the laid-back attitude that made Cliff Booth such a memorable character.

The teaser begins with stylized title text, with sunglasses incorporated into the word “Booth,” before cutting to Brad Pitt behind the wheel of a vintage car at night. Smoking as he drives, Pitt looks every bit like the unbothered stuntman audiences remember. There are no major plot revelations yet, but the visual alone is enough to make fans wonder what kind of trouble Cliff is about to find himself in this time.

The film serves as a standalone sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 Oscar-winning Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Pitt’s Cliff Booth became one of the film’s biggest attractions, combining a relaxed personality with an unexpectedly dangerous edge. Pitt won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance, making the return of the character particularly exciting.

Tarantino remains involved as the writer, while David Fincher takes over directing duties. That creative combination is arguably the biggest talking point surrounding the film. Tarantino’s sharp dialogue, unusual characters and pop-culture-heavy storytelling meeting Fincher’s meticulous visual style and darker filmmaking sensibilities could result in something very different from the original movie.

The project also brings back Timothy Olyphant as Western actor James Stacy. The ensemble cast further includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, Karren Karagulian and Holt McCallany. With such a diverse collection of performers, the film appears to be expanding the world around Cliff Booth rather than simply repeating the formula of its predecessor.

One of the most interesting aspects of The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth is that it is not being positioned as a straightforward continuation of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Instead, it gives Cliff a new adventure while retaining the character audiences already know. That opens the door for a story that can stand on its own while still playing with the legacy of Tarantino’s original film.

The decision to give the movie an IMAX-first release is another major talking point. Netflix has announced that audiences will get to see the film in IMAX theaters beginning November 25 before its wider streaming release. For a project featuring Fincher behind the camera and Brad Pitt cruising around as Cliff Booth, seeing it on the biggest possible screen could certainly add to the experience.

For now, Netflix is keeping the story under wraps, and perhaps that is exactly the right strategy. Cliff Booth has always been a character who works best when audiences discover his next move rather than being told about it in advance. One vintage car, one cigarette and one very cool Brad Pitt are enough to get the speculation started.

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth arrives first in IMAX theaters on November 25, with Netflix streaming to follow.
