Supriya Sule remembers Ajit Pawar on Raksha Bandhan, says his absence left unfillable void

New Delhi, Aug 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) NCP(SP) MP Supriya Sule on Friday remembered her late brother and former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Raksha Bandhan, saying that his absence has left a void that can never be filled.

Taking to the social media platform X, Sule recalled her childhood memories with Ajit Pawar and said his sudden departure continues to be difficult to accept.

"Dear Dada, Today is Raksha Bandhan... but this time, you're not with us, and this realization is making my heart deeply restless. That horrific morning seven months ago and your sudden departure... even today, I can't bring myself to believe it," she said.

Sule recalled how the two siblings had grown up together, sharing moments of affection, disagreements and mutual pride.

"From childhood, growing up together, our fights, the love we shared for each other, and the pride we felt in one another - these were the foundation of our bond. Even now, it feels like you'll suddenly appear from somewhere, let me tie the rakhi on you, chat and laugh with your sisters, and immerse yourself back into the family," she said in the post.

Sule further said that the void created by her brother’s absence could never be filled and expressed hope that his love and blessings would continue to remain with her.

"The void created by your absence can never be filled. Wherever you are, may your love and blessings always remain by my side forever," she added.

Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival that celebrates the bond of affection, love and protection between siblings. The festival holds special significance in India, where brothers and sisters come together to mark their relationship and reaffirm their emotional bond.

Raksha Bandhan is observed on the full moon day of the Hindu lunisolar month of Shravana, which generally falls in August according to the Gregorian calendar.

The term “Raksha Bandhan” is derived from two words: “Raksha”, meaning protection, and “Bandhan”, referring to a bond or the act of tying. Traditionally, sisters tie a rakhi, or sacred thread, around their brothers’ wrists and pray for their well-being, while brothers pledge to support and protect them.

The festival, however, is not restricted to biological siblings. Raksha Bandhan is also celebrated among cousins and other close family relationships, including sisters-in-law, aunts and nephews, reflecting the broader cultural significance of familial affection and mutual care.
