Sandeep Reddy Vanga Marks 9 Years Of Arjun Reddy Says The Lesson Remains The Same

Nine years after Arjun Reddy changed the course of his career, filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga is looking back at the film with the same conviction that defined it in the first place. The director marked the ninth anniversary of his 2017 Telugu romantic drama with a striking new poster featuring Vijay Deverakonda's iconic character and a message that suggests he has no intention of softening his filmmaking philosophy.

Sharing the poster on social media, Vanga wrote, "9 years of ARJUN REDDY..... the lesson remains the same.... the belief remains the same. Do not ice it :-)" The poster features Arjun Reddy in profile, placed within a bold red brushstroke forming the number nine, creating a visual that feels just as intense as the film itself.

The filmmaker's choice of words is particularly interesting. "Do not ice it" appears to be a reference to his belief in keeping emotions raw and undiluted rather than polishing them to make them more comfortable for the audience. Arjun Reddy was built around exactly that approach, presenting its protagonist's anger, passion, addiction, heartbreak and self-destructive behaviour without attempting to make the journey neat or conventional.

Released in 2017, Arjun Reddy marked Vanga's directorial debut and introduced audiences to Vijay Deverakonda in one of the most talked-about performances of his career. The actor played Arjun Reddy Deshmukh, a brilliant but volatile surgeon whose life begins to spiral after his relationship with Preethi, played by Shalini Pandey, falls apart.
