Agartala, Aug 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) Communist Party of India‑Marxist (CPI‑M) General Secretary M.A. Baby on Tuesday said that in view of recent political developments and what he termed the “misrule” of the BJP‑led NDA government, Left parties are emerging as a powerful political force in India.
Baby told the media in Tripura that controversies surrounding examinations, including the National Eligibility‑cum‑Entrance Test (NEET), and subsequent student agitations had forced former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign.
He said organisations such as the SFI, AISF and AISA, along with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), played significant roles in the recent student movement in Delhi and other parts of the country.
He also pointed to the BJP’s defeat in the crucial Bankipur Assembly by‑election in Bihar. This constituency had remained a stronghold of the party for three decades and was vacated by BJP National President Nitin Nabin.
Baby claimed that these developments showed the BJP‑led government at the Centre was losing mass support.
“Movements by workers, farmers, students and youths across the country, along with the BJP’s recent electoral setbacks, prove that the last days of the Modi government are approaching. The role of the Left parties in providing political resistance will increase further,” he said.
Immediately after he arrived in Tripura, Baby attended a meeting with members of the CPI‑M state secretariat and is scheduled to participate in a state committee meeting.
His second visit to Tripura in two months comes ahead of elections to Village Committees under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and urban local body polls across the state.
