Bhopal, Aug 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Madhya Pradesh government will use digital health systems to bridge the healthcare gap in remote areas and ensure that advanced medical services are accessible to people at the last mile, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla said on Tuesday.
Addressing a state-level workshop on the Model District and Model Health Institution initiative under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre in Bhopal, Shukla added that digital healthcare would make medical services more accessible, transparent and citizen-centric.
"Digital health services can ensure that people living in the remotest parts of the state get easy access to quality and advanced healthcare. This should be our collective goal," the Deputy Chief Minister said.
Shukla, who is leading the state's health department, said that he has directed officials to ensure effective implementation of digital health systems in selected model districts and health institutions and replicate their successful practices across other facilities.
He said the Model District and Model Health Institution initiative should not be treated merely as a technology project but as a broader effort to transform the delivery of healthcare services.
Deputy CM Shukla also called for more effective use of telemedicine in rural areas, saying it could help people access medical consultation without having to travel long distances.
"Selected model districts and health institutions should develop effective practices that can be replicated across Madhya Pradesh to strengthen the state's digital health system," he said.
Shukla shared that the state government was working towards creating posts according to IPHS-12 standards, expediting recruitment and ensuring the availability of necessary equipment at health institutions.
During the programme, districts and health institutions that performed well under the ABDM were honoured.
Jabalpur, Gwalior, Indore and Satna were recognised for their performance in ABHA ID generation.
Bhopal District Hospital and Index Medical College and Hospital at Indore, were honoured for token generation, while Jabalpur District Hospital and AIIMS Bhopal received recognition for digital health record filing.
Ayushman Bharat Yojana (Madhya Pradesh) Chief Executive Officer Arvind Shah said more than 5.9 crore ABHA IDs had been generated in the state as of August 2026.
More than 20,444 health institutions had been registered in the Health Facility Registry and 19,274 healthcare professionals in the Health Professional Registry.
