Manipur CM stresses peace, dialogue among communities for state’s development

Imphal, Aug 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Saturday said peace is essential for the state's development and stressed that lasting peace can be achieved only through dialogue and understanding among different communities.

He called for a positive approach towards resolving differences and fostering development, emphasising collective efforts to build a peaceful and progressive society.

Inaugurating a mechanised parking facility at Nagamapal, near the Chunkhang Leirak entry in Imphal West District, the Chief Minister said peace is a prerequisite for development in any state. “Lasting peace could be achieved through constructive dialogue among the communities,” he noted, stressing the need to remain positive in thinking towards bringing development in society.

He added that collective efforts by residents and the bazaar community are required to ensure proper functioning of the mechanised rotary parking facility.

Addressing the function, local MLA of Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency, Khumukcham Joy Kisan Singh, highlighted the problems people face due to limited parking space in the market area. He said the government had proposed constructing a parking facility to address the issue. He lauded the Chief Minister’s initiative in resuming inter‑state bus services connecting Assam and Nagaland.

Regarding the scarcity of potable water in Thangmeiband Constituency, the legislator said the issue would be resolved soon under the Chief Minister's guidance.

Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel stated that the inauguration of the mechanised rotary parking system is an important milestone for Imphal. It is the first of four proposed facilities across the city. He added that Imphal, like other capital cities, faces growing pressure on parking space due to increasing urbanisation and rising vehicle numbers, which has created demand for organised parking facilities.

The inaugural programme was attended by Thingbaijam Harikumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Smart City, bazaar community members, staff and locals.
