Kolkata, Aug 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) The decomposed body of a young man wrapped in a sack was recovered in New Town near Kolkata, West Bengal, on Saturday.
It is learnt that the young man's face was smashed and disfigured. Officers from Eco Park police station recovered the body of the young man from Swamiji Nagar in New Town. The police sent the body for an autopsy.
Although the identity of the deceased young man was not known at first, it was later learned that his name was Sourav Biswas. His age is estimated to be between 32 and 35 years.
Police said that the body of the deceased young man has multiple tattoos. In the initial investigation, the police estimated that the young man was killed two to three days ago. There are multiple wounds on the body.
CCTV footage of the spot has been found. In that footage, it is seen that a young man is throwing the body wrapped in a sack on his shoulder behind a stationary motorbike. Bricks were pressed on top of it to keep the sack from being moved.
According to local sources, the youth had been missing for three days. A local resident said, "The youth’s body was dumped at around 4:20 a.m. The youth who dumped the body stood there for a few minutes. Then he left. Due to the lack of light, the accused’s face could not be seen. They dumped the body behind a parked bike, covered it with a sack and placed bricks. The police were soon informed. The officers took the body to Bidhannagar Hospital at around 8 a.m.; the doctors said the body was at least three to four days old."
A senior officer of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate said, "An investigation has started to find out who dumped the body. CCTV footage of the area is being monitored to track the youth. The body has been sent for autopsy. The real cause of death will be ascertained once the autopsy report arrives."
It may be noted that on July 29, the body of a man was recovered from a roadside food stall in the same New Town area on the northern outskirts of Kolkata. The incident has created a huge stir in the Ram Mandir area of New Town.
Meanwhile, on July 23, the police recovered the body of a youth in the Dum Dum Park area on the northern outskirts of Kolkata. The body was found hanging from a railing in Dum Dum Park.
