Indore, Aug 20 (SocialNews.XYZ) Madhya Pradesh is looking to expand its manufacturing base in clean energy and digital infrastructure with the commissioning of two industrial units involving an investment of Rs 850 crore at Pithampur, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Thursday.
Chief Minister Yadav made this statement after inaugurating an optical fibre manufacturing plant and a battery storage unit of the Pratap Group at the Smart Industrial Park in Pithampur, the state's major industrial hub.
The projects come at a time when the state government is focusing on attracting investment and creating employment opportunities for its growing young workforce.
"The new industrial units launched today will propel a new wave of development and prosperity," CM Yadav said, adding that industrial growth must go hand in hand with employment generation.
The optical fibre plant, set up by Corsis Industries over around 8,067 square metres, has an annual production capacity of 5.5 million fibre-kilometres.
The unit will manufacture fibre used in broadband networks, 5G services, fibre-to-the-home connections, data centres, smart cities and defence-related communication infrastructure.
The battery storage plant, established by Volters Technology over about 20,505 square metres, has a production capacity of 3 GWh.
It uses automated and robotic production systems and will cater to renewable energy integration as well as commercial and industrial applications.
"Providing ample employment opportunities for the youth and strengthening the economy are the most critical needs of the times," the Chief Minister said.
Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who also attended the inauguration, said the two projects would contribute to India's clean energy and digital infrastructure goals.
He added that the battery storage plant would help meet the country's growing energy storage requirements, while the optical fibre facility would strengthen digital connectivity.
Shekhawat also said that Madhya Pradesh had strong potential for industrial development due to the availability of power, water and raw materials, along with road and logistics connectivity.
