Sydney, Aug 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) Police have commenced an investigation after a man was fatally stabbed at a residence in Sydney's inner-south on Tuesday night, the security agencies stated on Wednesday.
A police statement said that officers were called to an assault at a unit in Waterloo, 3 km south of central Sydney, around 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday and arrived to find a man had been stabbed.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was treated by ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition. Police were informed about 8:45 p.m. that he had died in hospital.
A woman who was also present at the residence at the time was assaulted and sustained minor injuries, Xinhua news agency reported.
A crime scene was established and local detectives began an investigation with assistance from the homicide squad.
Meanwhile, two people have been charged after police seized drugs and firearms from a South Australian home where four young children were also living.
The South Australia Police said in a statement on Wednesday that detectives executed a search warrant at a home in the town of Angle Vale, 32 km north of Adelaide, on Tuesday evening and located 9.2 kg of methamphetamine, 3.3 kg of cocaine and 232 grams of MDMA.
The drugs, as well as two revolver handguns and 80,000 Australian dollars (about 56,592 US dollars) in cash, were seized, and a 33-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested.
Police said they were each charged with trafficking in a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug, possessing a prescribed quantity of a controlled precursor, firearms offenses and money laundering.
If convicted, they face maximum penalties of life imprisonment.
Acting assistant police Commissioner Catherine Hilliard told reporters that four children under the age of six were living with the man and woman at the property, noting that police and other government authorities will take necessary steps to maintain the welfare of those children.
She described the drug seizure as one of the most significant in the state's recent history.
