Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous Celebrates Independence Day and Diamond Jubilee Foundation Day

Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous marked Independence Day and the Foundation Day of the Sisters of St. Joseph of  Tarbes in a joint celebration at the Jyoti Auditorium, themed "Honouring Freedom, Inspiring the Future." The day also marked the college's Diamond Jubilee, sixty years since its founding in 1966.

The programme opened with the lighting of the lamp and a multi-faith prayer, followed by an address from Principal Dr. Sr. Mary Louisa S., who reflected on India's freedom struggle and the responsibilities of today's youth. Filmmaker and environmentalist Shri Suresh Heblikar inaugurated "Terra Jyoti," a green initiative promoting tree plantation, and spoke on sustainable development. Col. Dr. V. Gopalakrishnan, Commanding Officer, Military Dental Centre, delivered a motivational address on duty, discipline and national service.

The event also honoured the Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes, founders of the college, for their decades of service, and saw the release of a Diamond Jubilee souvenir commemorating the institution's journey since 1966.

Cultural performances by students, including dance and musical presentations celebrating unity and freedom, added colour to the day-long celebrations at the college.
