Specialised investment funds cross Rs 23,000 crore AUM mark in July

New Delhi, Aug 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Specialised Investment Fund assets under management rose 30 per cent month‑on‑month to Rs 23,177 crore in July 2026, with 94,447 folios taking the investor base close to the 1 lakh mark, a report said on Thursday.

The report from ValueMetrics said hybrid investment strategies continued to dominate the SIF landscape, accounting for 71 per cent of total AUM at Rs 16,524 crore in July.

Hybrid long‑short funds remained the largest single strategy with AUM of Rs 15,374 crore, up 29 per cent month‑on‑month from Rs 11,910 crore in June.

They contributed 66 per cent of the total SIF AUM, with an average folio size of Rs 36.9 lakh, while the average folio size of SIFs stood at Rs 24.5 lakh,

Equity‑oriented strategies saw AUM rise 32 per cent month‑on‑month to Rs 6,654 crore from Rs 5,036 crore in June.

Overall, Hybrid Investment Strategies had an average folio size of Rs 34.1 lakh, compared with Rs 32.7 lakh in June.

Equity-Oriented Investment Strategies contributed 29 per cent of the total SIF AUM, and the category's average folio size stood at Rs 14.4 lakh.

Manuj Jain, Co-founder ValueMetrics Technologies, said that the equity market has remained quite volatile over the last two quarters, creating a conducive environment for the long-short and other market-neutral strategies deployed by several SIFs.

“Meanwhile, more AMCs are launching SIF NFOs, increasing investor awareness and providing greater choice. While a recovery in markets may moderate some of the relative appeal of long-short strategies, we believe the demand for SIFs can sustain as investors increasingly seek differentiated strategies beyond traditional long-only products,” Jain said.

The mutual fund industry continued to witness healthy investor participation in July 2026 as total mutual fund AUM rose to Rs 85.8 lakh crore, while net inflows into Active Equity and Hybrid Funds stood at approximately Rs 30,000 crore
