John Abraham, Jonty Rhodes Unveil Rotterdam Dockers Jersey Ahead Of European T20 Premier League Debut

The countdown to the inaugural European T20 Premier League (ETPL) has officially begun, and the excitement around the new ICC-sanctioned franchise league is already building. In a major milestone ahead of the tournament, Rotterdam Dockers unveiled their official team jersey at a special event in Mumbai, bringing together the worlds of cricket, entertainment and technology.

The jersey launch was attended by Rotterdam Dockers co-owners John Abraham and Jonty Rhodes, along with Founder and Managing Director Madhukar Shree and Fireflies.ai Co-founder and CEO Krish Ramineni. The event offered a glimpse into the franchise's identity as it prepares to make its debut on the European T20 stage.

The franchise also announced Fireflies.ai as its Official Jersey Partner, with Krish Ramineni joining Rotterdam Dockers as a Founding Investor. The partnership is positioned at the intersection of cricket, technology and innovation, adding a modern business dimension to the team's journey ahead of the ETPL's first season.

Speaking about his association with the franchise, John Abraham said, “Sport has always been a big part of my life, and being part of the European T20 Premier League gives us an opportunity to contribute to the growth of cricket in Europe, particularly by developing grassroots talent across the Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland.” He further expressed confidence that the ETPL could help make cricket a truly global sport while highlighting his excitement about the journey with Rotterdam Dockers.

On the field, Rotterdam Dockers boast a formidable combination of international stars and Dutch talent. The franchise is co-owned by Jonty Rhodes, John Abraham and Faf du Plessis, with former South Africa captain du Plessis set to lead the side. The squad features some of the biggest names in T20 cricket, including Heinrich Klaasen, Anrich Nortje, Logan van Beek and Roelof van der Merwe, alongside emerging players from the Netherlands.

Rotterdam Dockers will begin their ETPL campaign against Amsterdam Flames on August 26 in Voorburg, marking the start of a new chapter for franchise cricket in Europe. With a mix of experienced international players and homegrown talent, the team will be among the sides looking to make history in the league's debut season.

The inaugural ETPL will feature players from Ireland, the Netherlands and Scotland, alongside established international stars from the wider T20 circuit. One of the league's key ambitions is to create a platform where emerging European cricketers can play alongside experienced global stars, allowing them to learn, develop and compete at a higher level.

ETPL Season 1 will run from August 26 to September 20, with matches taking place across Voorburg in the Netherlands and Dublin in Ireland. Six city-based franchises will battle it out to become the first-ever European T20 Premier League champions, making the upcoming season a significant moment for the growth of cricket across the continent.

With a high-profile ownership group, an impressive player roster and a strong focus on developing European cricket, Rotterdam Dockers are entering the ETPL with plenty of ambition. And with John Abraham and Jonty Rhodes leading the franchise's off-field vision, the newly unveiled jersey could be the first symbol of a team hoping to make a lasting mark on Europe's cricketing landscape.
