Speaking about when the makers realised that the time was right for a film, Farhan said, “I would say this has happened entirely because of the love the audience has shown for the show. They have supported it since the moment it was first released. Amazon took it global.” He added that wherever he travels, people continue to ask him about Mirzapur and, more specifically, when the film would arrive.

Farhan further explained just how persistent that audience demand has been, saying, “Wherever I go, people ask about various films—‘When is the sequel to this coming? When is the sequel to that coming?’—but they always ask, ‘When is Mirzapur coming?’ They always ask about it.” He revealed that even after the film was announced, the questions around its release date continued, eventually making it clear that viewers were ready to see their favourite characters on the big screen.

Reflecting on the response, Farhan summed up the sentiment beautifully: “So, it is truly the fans who demanded this movie, and we are very happy and grateful to be able to put it together with the original cast and this amazing new cast.” His comments underline how strongly the Mirzapur franchise has connected with audiences over the years and why bringing its characters back together for a theatrical adventure became such an important move for the team.

Farhan also had high praise for the creative minds who created the world of Mirzapur. Recalling the early days of the project, he revealed, “When Puneet first came to us, our initial instinct was to take him to a psychiatrist—we wondered, ‘What is going on here?’” The filmmaker-producer was referring to writer Puneet Krishna, whose unconventional idea eventually evolved into one of India's most popular crime dramas.

Farhan went on to acknowledge the contribution of director Gurmeet Singh and writer Puneet Krishna, calling them the real heroes behind the franchise. “So, Guru and Puneet are truly the heroes of the show,” he said, while also crediting Ritesh Sidhwani, Excel Entertainment and Amazon for supporting the creative team throughout the journey.
