Bharat Taxi app registers 8.48 lakh drivers, facilitates 11,106 daily rides

New Delhi, Aug 12 (SocialNews.XYZ) The cooperative‑led digital mobility platform Bharat Taxi, has registered 8.48 lakh drivers, 44.27 lakh customers and facilitates 11,106 daily rides across the country, the Parliament was informed on Wednesday.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah told Rajya Sabha that the platform operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL), had enabled cumulative earnings of Rs 83.70 crore for Sarathis and has been officially launched in Delhi‑NCR, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

 

Bharat Taxi Services is being rolled out in phases across other states, with expansion subject to operational requirements and necessary approvals, the statement from Ministry of Cooperation said.

Expansion is undertaken based on factors such as operational preparedness, availability of Sarathis, completion of statutory requirements, and coordination with the concerned State Governments, cooperative institutions, and other stakeholders, the statement noted.

The implementation process of the scheme includes registration and onboarding of Sarathis or drivers, customer enrolment, training programmes and expansion of services to identified cities and States.

Regional breakdown of average daily rides showed Delhi‑NCR at 5,574, Gujarat at 3,817, Pune at 632, Jaipur at 372, Lucknow at 324, Mumbai at 197 and Chandigarh at 190, totalling 11,106 daily rides.

The minister said that Bharat Taxi is a cooperative-based mobility platform operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL) under the provisions of the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002, whereas Yatri Sathi is a mobility platform developed and operated by the Department of Information Technology and Electronics (DITE), Government of West Bengal.

STCL signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of West Bengal on July 19, 2026 to collaborate with the Yatri Sathi platform. Under the MoU, Bharat Taxi extends support in the areas of driver enrolment, cooperative membership, driver welfare and public outreach.
